Potentials of consequence research and the consideration of unintended consequences
On September 26-30, 2022, the 41. Congress of the German Sociological Association will take place in Bielefeld under the motto “Polarized Worlds“. Faced with current events in the world, aggravations of inequality and polarization processes become visible. Social assistances reproduce social polarizations. That is why research on unintended consequences is particularly important.
Thus, our topic of research “Consequences of Social Services Work” is represented this year. In an AdHoc group, Ellen Bareis, Anja Eichhorn, Kristina Enders, Dagmar Hoffmann, Udo Kelle and Chantal Munsch will jointly open up perspectives on the potentials of research on consequences and also discuss unintended consequences. The focus will be on the thesis “that the variation of research perspectives between openness and causality, narratives and practices, assistance practice and research practice sharpens the view of unintended consequences of social services work”.
Registration information can be found on the DGS Congress page (https://kongress2022.soziologie.de/anmeldung). We encourage you to participate.
