DATA PROTECTION, DATA MANAGEMENT AND PLAGIARISM PREVENTION
Target Group: PhD students, postdocs
The realization of empirical (qualification) projects is not only demanding and challenging on a content level. Scientists also have to deal with legal questions concerning data protection and data management as well as the avoidance of plagiarism. These complex and mostly very individual matters require a lot of attention in order to prevent mistakes followed by serious legal consequences.
The workshop will provide basic information on the handling, management and protection of sensitive research data. It also gives the opportunity to ask specific questions and engage in an exchange. In addition, it will systematically address aspects of scientific plagiarism, i. e. the improper use of texts/images/data in scientific texts. Participants will be enabled to detect plagiarism themselves in their research, lecturing and teaching practice. Furthermore, information on how to proactively recognize and avoid plagiarism in literature processing and writing practices will be developed.
The event primarily aims at doctoral students of the DFG Research Training Group “Consequences of Social Assistance”. Some free places are available for those interested.
